Colonels Pound Out 15 Hits In 10-3 Win At Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. –
Eastern Kentucky University's baseball team scored nine runs in the first five innings on its way to a 10-3 victory at Central Arkansas on Saturday.  With the win, the Colonels even the weekend Atlantic Sun Conference series at 1-1.
 
EKU pounded out 15 hits in the game.
 
After a sacrifice fly from Tait Nunnally got the Colonels (3-16, 1-1 ASUN) on the board in the third, Conner Davis followed with a 2-run home run for a 3-0 lead.  It was his third of the season.
 
EKU added two more in the fourth to go in front 5-1.  Miguel Larreal started the frame with a solo home run, his second of the season. 
 
A 4-run fifth inning allowed the Colonels to take full control of the contest.  Larreal got the scoring started with an infield single that brought home Davis.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Ehinger Adrianza singled through the right side to score two more.  Colby Ott finished it off with an RBI double down the left field line to make it 9-1.
 
The Bears (8-11, 1-1 ASUN) scored a pair in the bottom half of the fifth to get within six.  Ron Franklin Jr.'s solo home run in the seventh extended the cushion for EKU to seven, 10-3.
 
Starter Ryker Walton (2-1) pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Colonels.  He allowed three runs on five hits, walked two and struck out three.  Isaac Milburn pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to earn the save, his first in 2024.  He allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out one.
 
Adrianza had a 3-for-3 game with a run and two driven in.  Davis was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.  Larreal went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.  Franklin was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and one RBI.
 
Zeb Allen had three hits in four at bats and scored a run for Central Arkansas.
