EKU Men’s Tennis Looks To Stay Undefeated In ASUN Conference Play Against Bellarmine

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team (16-4, 1-0 ASUN) looks to stay undefeated in Atlantic Sun Conference play against Bellarmine (5-8, 0-1 ASUN) on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
THE COLONELS
The Colonels enter the match with a 16-4 record, winning their first ASUN match against Austin Peay by a score of 5-2 on March 15. EKU won 12 straight matches from Jan. 31 to March 2, which is tied for the longest winning streak in program history.
 
The Maroon and White are led by Moritz Mayer, who boasts a 13-6 mark in singles play this season. He beat Georgia's Miguel Perez Pena in singles play on Jan. 22, who was the No. 43 singles player in the country, as it was the highest-ranked singles win in program history. The Eutingen, Germany product won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week twice. Mayer leads the team and the ASUN in singles wins.
 
Evzen Holis won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Feb. 14 and Feb. 28, as he has a 12-5 record in singles from the top two courts. Paul-Antoine Brazet also has 12 singles wins and Fernando Bulnes has nine wins in singles play. EKU has a 71-46 mark in singles play as a team this season.
 
Bulnes and Holis are the leading pair in doubles, as they have a 9-4 mark from the top two spots in the lineup. Holis, Mayer, and Kristoffer Stahlbrand are tied for a team-high 10 wins in doubles. The Colonels have earned the doubles point in 13 out of their last 15 matches. EKU boasts a 31-13 record in doubles this season.
 
SCOUTING BELLARMINE
Bellarmine enters the contest with a 5-8 mark, falling to ASUN foe Queens by a score of 6-1 on March 10. The Knights are led by Vineet Ramesh in singles, posting an 8-2 record from multiple spots in the lineup. Xavier Ecarma leads Bellarmine with five doubles wins. The Knights beat the Colonels twice in 2023, but EKU leads the all-time series 13-4.
