RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University trailed 1-0 until Dayton scored five times in the fifth on its way to a 7-0 victory on Wednesday at Earle Combs Stadium.
Mason Dobie's 2-run single through the right side highlighted the 5-run fifth for the Flyers (13-8). David Pedanou added a run scoring single later in the frame to put the visitors ahead 6-0.
Freshman
Bradley Stewart started for the Colonels and pitched two shutout innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Miguel Larreal and
Tait Nunnally recorded one hit each for EKU (4-18).
Seven Flyers had one hit each for Dayton. Dobie was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Colonels will play a 3-game series at home this weekend against Atlantic Sun Conference foe North Alabama. Friday's series-opener is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
