Max Williams' 7th Inning Home Run Sends Colonels To Series Clinching Win Over North Alabama

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Max Williams hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send Eastern Kentucky University to a 6-5 series-clinching win over North Alabama on Saturday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
The Colonels (6-18, 4-1 ASUN) won the series opener 10-0 in seven innings on Friday.
 
The series finale on Sunday will get underway at 1 p.m.  Sunday will be Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day presented by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kids Day.  EKU faculty and staff can receive complementary tickets to the game and a special $5 Faculty & Staff concessions combo of popcorn and a drink.  All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game.
 
With the game tied 5-5 and one out in the seventh, Williams sent a 2-1 pitch over the wall in right field.  He finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
 
After EKU scored the first two runs of the game, the Lions (8-14, 1-4 ASUN) scored three straight to take the lead.  The Colonels platted three runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead.  Ron Franklin Jr. started it with an infield single to third.  Ehinger Adrianza followed with a single to right.  Franklin scored on a ground ball.  Colby Ott followed with an RBI single to center field.  Justin Carinci made it a 5-3 game when he scored on a wild pitch.
 
North Alabama scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie the game again.  With runners at the corners, a throwing error allowed one run to come home.  Gehrig Frei added an RBI single to tie it up at 5-5.
 
Franklin went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Joe Clancy (1-1) earned the win after pitching 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.  He did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out two.  Garrett Langrell picked up his first save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. 
 
Frei was 2-for-5 with an RBI for UNA.
