Colonels Score 20 To Snap NKU's 11-Game Winning Streak

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University snapped Northern Kentucky's 11-game winning streak with a 20-15 victory on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
Justin Carinci finished 3-for-6 with two doubles, four runs and four RBIs.  Colby Ott hit his first home run of the season and went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs.  Max Williams drove in five, hitting a home run and a double while going 2-for-3 with three walks and a run scored.
 
The Colonels (8-18) fell behind 7-2 going into the bottom of the third inning.  EKU answered by scoring 12 runs.  Ehinger Adrianza started the scoring with an RBI ground-rule double.  Carinci followed with a 2-run double down the left field line.  Ott's 2-run home run tied the game at 7-7.  With three on, Williams sent a shot over the wall in right field to give the Colonels a 10-7 lead.  Miguel Larreal's 3-run triple down the right field line capped the big frame and handed the home team a 14-7 lead.
 
Ron Franklin Jr. had a 2-run home run in the fourth and Williams added an RBI double in the fifth inning.  Ott had an RBI double in the sixth and Santiago Peralta hit a 2-run double to left center in the same inning.
 
The Norse (15-9) got as close as two, 16-14, after scoring five runs in the top half of the fifth inning.  Mitch Wood had a 2-run double to center field.
 
Treyvin Moss had three hits in five at bats with two runs and four RBIs for Northern Kentucky.  Wood finished 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs.
 
The Colonels will host Stetson for a 3-game Atlantic Sun Conference series starting Thursday.  The series opener is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
