RICHMOND, Ky. – Riding a 14-game win streak and 12 straight at home, the Eastern Kentucky University softball team takes a pause from Atlantic Sun Conference play to host Northern Kentucky on Wednesday at Gertrude Hood Field.
 
Wednesday's midweek tilt is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. EST, fans can purchase tickets starting at just $5 online here.  EKU students can receive a free crewneck (While supplies last) upon arrival to the ballpark.
 
Those not able to be in attendance on Wednesday can tune in on ESPN+ starting around five minutes before first pitch.
 
EKU (23-4, 6-0 ASUN) is off to its best start in program history after completing back-to-back ASUN sweeps over Central Arkansas and Kennesaw State.  The Colonels own a 14-game winning streak dating back to March 2.
 
In its 14-game winning streak, EKU has outscored its opponents by a wide +71 (81-10) margin.  Six of the 10 runs EKU has allowed in the last 14 games played came from the Kennesaw State series.
 
EKU's Maddi Rutan threw the sixth complete game of her career on Sunday over KSU, going the full 7.0 distance with a career-high 13 strikeouts.  She improved to 12-2 in the circle this season with a 1.27 ERA and 71 K's.
 
Offensively, sophomore outfielder Jaelin Haynes went 5-for-9 with four runs, three doubles, and one RBI in the KSU series.  She improved her team-leading batting average to .418 with 33 hits.
 
Northern Kentucky (11-10, 4-2 Horizon) enters the game coming off a three-game sweep of conference foe Green Bay on the road.  The Norse have won four of their last six games.
 
NKU is led by senior outfielder Ella LeMonier who has a .397 BA with 29 hits, three doubles, one triple, and 11 RBIs in 73 at-bats.
