RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University lost 14-3 to Stetson in game two of the weekend series on Friday at Earle Combs Stadium.
A 2-run triple by Isaiah Barkett highlighted a 3-run second inning as Stetson (18-9, 6-2 ASUN) jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Justin Carinci's ground ball scored
Silas Shaffer in the bottom half of the inning to get EKU on the board.
Mike Handal's 2-run home run in the third gave the visitors a 5-1 advantage. After falling behind 8-1 in the top of the fourth, Carinci drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth.
Daniel Labrador connected on a 2-run home run for the Hatters in the sixth, making it 10-2.
Ron Franklin Jr. hit a solo home run in the bottom of the inning, his second of the series and sixth of the season.
Stetson added four more in the top of the seventh and the game ended after the Colonels (8-20, 5-3 ASUN) failed to score in the bottom half.
Franklin went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Carinci was 0-for-2 but drove in two runs.
Kyle Jones led the Hatters, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Six different Stetson players had two RBIs each.
The series finale on Saturday will get underway at 11 a.m. There will be a postgame Egg Hunt on Saturday.
