Box Score

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University held No. 25 Kentucky hitless through seven innings, but couldn't hold off a late Wildcat comeback in a 5-2 loss on Wednesday at Earle Combs Stadium.

The game was played in front of a sellout crowd, and Earle Combs Stadium record 1,021 fans.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning and the game remain tied until the bottom of the sixth.  With two outs and the bases loaded, Colby Ott scored on a Kentucky throwing error for a 2-1 EKU lead.

Rese Brown provided four and two-thirds innings of hitless relief for the Colonels (2-11), after coming on to begin the third.  He walked one and struck out five.

The Wildcats (12-1) got their first hit of the game to start the eighth inning.  With runners at the corners and no outs, a ground ball off the bat of Nick Lopez plated the tying run.  Reuben Church had a 2-run double later in the inning to cap the 3-run frame and swing the lead to UK, 4-2.

Lopez was 0-for-3 but had three RBIs and a run scored.
