RICHMOND, Ky. – One day after allowing four home runs in the series opener, Eastern Kentucky University surrendered six dingers in a 16-13 loss to Queens on Saturday at Earle Combs Stadium.
JJ Sousa hit the Royals' first home run in the first inning, a 3-run shot that gave the visitors an early lead. EKU's
Tait Nunnally got one back in the bottom half of the first when he hit his seventh home run of the season.
Queens hit two home runs in the second. Tyler Peters hit a solo shot over the wall in right center and Jake Barbour sent a 2-run dinger over the wall in right field for a 6-1 lead. Will Budnick's 2-run home run in the third gave his squad an 8-3 advantage.

Ron Franklin Jr. and a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Santiago Peralta in the bottom of the fifth allowed the Colonels (9-25, 6-8 ASUN) to get within three, 9-6.
Andrew McDermott hit his third home run of the weekend in the sixth to push the Royals (10-24, 6-8 ASUN) in front by four, 10-6.
Barbour's second of the game, a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh, pushed Queens ahead by 10, 16-6. He finished 4-for-6 with three runs and five RBIs. Sousa was 1-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Peters went 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.
Max Williams had a 2-run triple in the bottom of the seventh to keep the game alive. The Colonels added five in the ninth.
Conner Davis got it started with an RBI triple.
Miguel Larreal's 3-run home run over the wall in right cut the deficit to three, 16-13, but that is as close as the home team would get.
Larreal had three hits in four at bats, walked twice, scored twice and drove in three. Nunnally was 1-for-5 with a walk, two runs and an RBI. Williams drove in four while going 2-for-6.
The series finale on Sunday will get underway at 1 p.m. Sunday will be Kids Day. All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game. The second EKU baseball trading card giveaway will also be on Sunday. There will also be a postgame movie, with Barbie being shown on the big screen.
