CINCINNATI, Ohio – Eastern Kentucky University's baseball team fell behind early in a 12-2 loss at Cincinnati on Tuesday.

The Bearcats (21-16) scored five times in the first inning to grab the early lead. Josh Kross started it with a 3-run home run. Landyn Vidourek capped the first with a 2-run double.

Trailing 6-0 in the fourth, the Colonels (10-26) scored twice in an effort to claw back into the game.Â
Ron Franklin Jr. singled and later scored on a ground ball from
Elijah Underhill.Â
Justin Carinci brought home
Boone Shevey with a double down the right field line.

Cincinnati ended the comeback bid in the bottom half of the fourth with Tommy O'Connor's 2-run home run to push the lead back to six, 8-2.

The game ended by run rule in the eight on a run scoring single to center field for Kerrington Cross.

Carinci went 2-for-4 with an RBI for EKU. O'Connor was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs for UC.
