CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Ron Franklin Jr. and
Elijah Underhill hit home runs in Eastern Kentucky University's 11-8 loss at Austin Peay in the Atlantic Sun Conference series finale on Sunday.

Just like they had in each of the first two games of the series the Colonels (12-31, 8-13) scored first.Â
Colby Ott brought home
Conner Davis with a single through the left side. A single by
Silas Shaffer platted

DJ Sullivan capped it with a run-scoring single to right field for a 3-0 lead.

The Governors scored two in the bottom half of the first and then took the lead in the bottom of the second. After Justin Olson scored on a ground out, Brody Szako drove in two with a double to center field for a 5-3 lead. Ambren Voitik's RBI single in the third pushed the home team out in front 6-3.

With two on in the top of the fourth, Franklin tied the game with his 14th home run of the season.

Harrison Brown pushed APSU back in front by one with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth. Clayton Gray added a sacrifice fly in the fifth for an 8-6 Governor lead.

With two outs and a runner on in the top of the sixth, Underhill hit his first career home run to tie the game, 8-8. The freshman deposited a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left field.

Austin Peay answered immediately. With one on and one out in the bottom of the sixth, Brown hit his second home run of the game to put his squad back in front by two, 10-8. Gray's solo home run in the seventh made it a 3-run game.

Justin Carinci had a sacrifice fly, after a leadoff triple from
Mauri Bejarano, in the top of the ninth to set the final score.

Franklin finished 3-for-5 with a walk, a run and three RBIs. Shaffer had a 3-for-4 day with an RBI. He hit .600 (6-for-10) in the series with a run and six RBIs. Underhill had one hit in four at bats, scored once and drove in two.

Brown went 3-for-4 with three runs and five RBIs. Szako was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

The Colonels will face Marshall in a midweek home-and-home starting Tuesday in Richmond at 6 p.m. The teams will meet Wednesday in Huntington, West Virginia on Wednesday.
