RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University picked up an 12-5 win over Marshall on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.

Ron Franklin Jr. hit a 3-run home run in the second inning to put EKU (13-31) in front 4-0. It was his 15th of the season and his eighth in the last 11 games.Â

Elijah Underhill added RBI singles and the Colonels led 6-0 after two.

Hayden Duffield's first hit of the season, a solo home run in the third, made it 7-0. Franklin added a sacrifice fly in the inning.

After the Thundering Herd (13-30) closed the gap to 8-2 with a run in the fourth and another in the fifth, EKU scored two more in the bottom of the fifth.Â
Conner Davis drove in two with a single down the left field line. Franklin drove in his fifth run of the game with another sacrifice fly, this time in the sixth to make it 11-2.

Franklin's sixth RBI of the game came in the eighth when he reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded, scoring
Mauri Bejarano. Franklin finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs to go along with his half-dozen RBIs.

Justin Carinci had a 4-for-5 day with three runs scored. Duffield scored four runs, going 1-for-1 with three walks.

Owen Ayers went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI for Marshall.

Rese Brown (2-4) started for EKU and allowed just two runs on three hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out four.
