DELAND, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball program hits the road after a 7-game home stand to face Stetson on Saturday and Sunday in DeLand.  The Colonels have won 17 of their last 18 games entering the weekend.
 
EKU will play a 1 & 3:30 p.m. EST doubleheader on Saturday, April 6 and conclude the series on Sunday, April 7 at Noon.  All three games can be found on ESPN+ beginning five minutes before first pitch.
 
EKU (26-5, 8-1 ASUN) is coming off its fifth-straight Atlantic Sun Conference series win after taking two against North Alabama at home last weekend.  EKU's 8-1 mark in conference play is its best start in ASUN play as a member in the league.
 
EKU's Maddi Rutan enters the weekend with high praise after being named the No. 5 two-way player in NCAA DI softball by Softball America on Thursday afternoon.  Rutan owns a 14-2 record in the circle this season with a 1.12 ERA and 91 strikeouts.  She's a two-time ASUN Pitcher of the Week selection this season.
 
The freshman from Columbus, Indiana has a .289 batting average and a team-leading five home runs this season.  EKU is 4-0 in games Rutan hits a home run and is the starting pitcher.
 
Offensively, the Colonels are led by Jeanay Riley and Jaelin Haynes, who sport .426 and .405 batting averages, respectively.  The outfield duo has combined for 47 hits, 17 doubles, five triples, four home runs, and 37 RBI's.
 
Stetson (12-23, 3-6 ASUN) is coming off three losses to Central Arkansas on the road last weekend.  The Hatters will face Florida today before entering the weekend.
