RICHMOND, Ky. – The 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Champion EKU softball team returns home for a three-game series against Lipscomb on Thursday and Friday at Gertrude Hood Field.
EKU will honor a five-member senior class around 3:50 p.m. before the 4 p.m. first pitch of Thursday's doubleheader. The series will conclude on Friday at 1 p.m. back at the softball field.
With one win during the series, EKU would secure the outright 2024 ASUN Regular Season Championship and lock up the No. 1 seed in the ASUN Championship from May 7-11 in Oxford, Ala.

EKU (37-8, 18-3 ASUN) clinched its fourth conference championship (2002, 2004, 2018, 2024) in program history last weekend against North Florida, doing so in just four seasons as a member institution in the ASUN Conference.
The Colonels have won six of seven conference series this season, five of the six series victories have come via sweep.
Maddi Rutan continues to lead the Colonels with a 22-4 pitching record with a 1.90 ERA and 135 strikeouts. Offensively, she has a .285 batting average with 39 hits and six home runs. She's a three-time ASUN weekly award recipient, was named the No. 5 two-way player in the country by Softball America, and is one of 25 freshmen across the country tabbed to the NFCA Freshman of the Year award.
Entering this weekend's series, five of EKU's nine traditional starters are hitting over .295 including
Jaelin Haynes,
Jeanay Riley,
Madison Scott,
Vianna Barron, and
Jasmine Miller. As of Wednesday, EKU leads the ASUN Conference in batting average, hits, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, and is second in home runs.
Lipscomb (16-33, 5-16 ASUN) is currently in 10th place in the conference standings and is one of five teams chasing the last spot in the ASUN Championship field.
The Bisons are led by Josey Polk, who sports a team-high .306 batting average with 44 hits and 17 RBIs.
