FORT MYERS, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University's baseball team lost 21-1 to Florida Gulf Coast in the Atlantic Sun Conference series opener on Friday.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first, the Eagles (24-23, 16-9 ASUN) pulled away with a 7-spot in the second inning. Mac Moise, who scored on a wild pitch in the opening frame, had a 2-run double down the left field line in the second to make it 4-0. Two runs scored on a fielding error to cap the inning and give the home team an 8-0 lead.

EKU (17-33, 11-14 ASUN) got on the board in the top of the third when
Conner Davis scored on a passed ball, closing the gap momentarily to 8-1.

Moise had another 2-run double, and Evan Dempsey drove in two with a triple to center field, as part of an 8-run bottom of the third, putting FGCU out in front 16-1.

The game ended by run rule after 7 innings.

Davis finished 2-for-2 with a double for the Colonels.

Dempsey went 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs and four RBIs for the Eagles. Moise was 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and four RBIs.
