LEXINGTON, Ky. – Five members of the EKU football team have been named to the 2024 Community Trust Bank Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team, according to an announcement by the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The selected players from the Colonels are
Darrian Baker,
Jeremiah Bailey,
Vincent Munlin Jr.,
Joshua Carter, and
John Stone.
The Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team is a pre-season recognition award for football players attending a Kentucky college or university. It represents the best college football players in the state.
Baker, a senior on the defensive line, started all 11 games for EKU in 2023, recording 25 total tackles, six for loss, with four sacks, and one forced fumble.
Joining Baker is fellow defensive lineman
Jeremiah Bailey, who appeared in all 11 games during the Colonels' 2023 season, tallying 13 tackles, two for loss, and one sack. The redshirt sophomore provided two critical turnovers, one forced fumble late against SE Missouri St., and a 39-yard scoop-and-score against SFA in the season finale.
On the offensive line,
Vincent Munlin Jr. and
John Stone earn the honor after both anchored the Colonels up front, paving the way for 437.4 yards per game in 2023, the most in the United Athletic Conference.
Finally, Carter earned his selection after a stellar 2023 campaign that saw the running back record a career-best 714 yards on the ground on 120 attempts with four touchdowns. His performance earned the Navarre, Fla., native FCS Football Central All-UAC Second Team and Phil Steele All-UAC Third Team honors.
The Colonels will return to the gridiron on August 31 on the road against Mississippi State, with the home opener at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium set for September 14 against new conference foe, West Georgia.
