RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf will compete at the 2024 JT Poston Invitational hosted by Western Carolina beginning on Sunday, Sept. 15.
The 54-hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, with one round taking place each day through Tuesday at the Waynesville Inn & Golf Club.
The par 70 course will play 6,270 yards in length for the tournament.
EKU will face high quality competition from 14 other teams at the tournament; Western Carolina, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Drexel, Francis Marion, Fames Madison, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UTRGV, Wofford, and Xavier.
The Colonels enter the tournament coming off a strong season debut winning the Colonel Shootout at 24 shots under par, including a second round team performance that saw them shoot a combined 270, one of the top five lowest round scores in program history.
Individually,
Connor Gdovin took the individual title in his EKU debut shooting seven-under for the tournament also earning him ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week.
Four other Colonels finished in the top-10 individually behind Gdovin with
Zach Watterson tied for third at five under,
Gehrig Sexton at four under, and
Anders Larson and
Justin Begley finishing tied for eighth at two under for the tournament.
