ATHENS, Ohio – Eastern Kentucky University swept Ohio, 3-0, on Saturday to conclude the Green & White Invitational presented by Athens County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Colonels lost Liberty, 3-1, earlier in the day.
EKU begins Atlantic Sun Conference play at home on Thursday against Austin Peay. The match will begin at 6 p.m. It will be Lace Up for Pediatric Cancer Night.

AG Vandagriff and sophomore setter
Emilee Hill earned Green & White All-Tournament recognition while leading the Colonels to a 2-1 record in the event. Vandagriff averaged 3.00 kills and 0.80 blocks per set. Hill contributed 2.50 kills, 4.10 digs and 4.90 assists per set.
Against Ohio, EKU scored four straight to break a 2-2 tie in the first and led the rest of the way.
Madi Tolzman's kill made it 6-2. A kill from setter
Cooper Abney stretched the margin to five, 10-5. A run of six unanswered, capped by a kill from Hill, put the visitors on top 17-8.
Sarah Mitchell's kill handed the Colonels a 25-18 win.
EKU (9-4) trailed for much of the second set and saw the Bobcats reach set-point, 24-23, on a service error. A kill from Tolzman tied it and an OU attack error gave the Colonels set-point, 25-24. EKU took another set-point at 26-25 on a kill from
Paige Wagers. After Ohio tied it at 26-26, a kill from Hill and a Bobcat attack error finished off a 28-26 win and a 2-0 lead.
In an attempt to keep the match alive, Ohio tied the third set 22-22 on a kill from Kam Hunt. Mitchell followed with a kill, and an attack error from Hunt gave the Colonels match-point, 24-22. Moments later a kill from
Carson Ledford completed the sweep with a 25-23 win.
Mitchell, Hill and Tolzman had eight kills each. Vandagriff had seven kills. Wagers finished with four kills and five blocks.
Anna Kharchynska led all players with 12 kills for Ohio (4-7).
Against Liberty (6-6), Mitchell led the team with 12 kills. She also had 13 digs. Vandagriff finished with 11 kills and five blocks. Ledford hit .400, totaling nine kills and just one error in 20 attacks. She also had four blocks.
With the first set tied 10-10, Ledford began an 8-1 run with a kill. Tolzman capped the spurt with three straight kills for an 18-11 EKU advantage. The Flames closed the gap to two, 24-22, late in the set before Vandagriff finished it off with a kill for a 25-22 win.
Liberty took the lead for good in the second set on a kill from Kate Gammer that made it 7-6. The Flames cruised to a 25-17 victory to tie the match.
Three straight points late in the third set, including kills from Mitchell and Ledford, pushed the Colonels out in front by six, 23-17. However, Liberty answered with an 11-3 run. EKU took set-point, 24-21 on a service error. The Flames scored the next three to tie it at 24-24. An attack error from the Flames gave the Colonels another set-point, 25-24. This time back-to-back attack errors handed Liberty a 26-25 lead. After another service error tied the score, Kamryn Bacus recorded a kill and EKU closed the match with an attack error. The 28-26 win put LU ahead 2-1 in the match.
Liberty never trailed in the fourth set on its way to a 25-16 match clinching win. Gammer led all players with 19 kills and hit .372 for the match. The Flames out-blocked the Colonels 10-6.
