CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – EKU's
Gretta Gunn scored the game-winner in the 76th minute to propel the Colonels to a 1-0 victory over long-time rival Austin Peay on Sunday afternoon at Morgan Bros. Field.
Sunday's win marked the first victory for EKU (4-5-1, 1-1-0 ASUN) in the Atlantic Sun Conference slate. The Colonels have now won three consecutive meetings over the Govs since 2022 and equalized the all-time series at 8-8-3 since 2005.
Gunn logged the first goal of her campaign in Sunday's victory, catching a perfect through-ball from
Chiara Premoli and sent a rocket past APSU's keeper for the game-winning goal. The goal was the sixth of her career at EKU, since 2021, Gunn had totaled 26 points and is the program leader in assists (13).

Kylie Fitzgerald led EKU with two of the team's six shot attempts in the match. Sophomore defender
Sydney Taylor joined Gunn with one shot on target apiece.
EKU and Austin Peay battled to a scoreless effort after 45 minutes of play despite the Govs earning five-straight corner attempts from 26' to 29' on the clock.
Out of the half, both squads attempted a combined seven shot attempts in the next 30 minutes but couldn't get a shot to fall.
In the 76th minute, EKU took advantage of a lapse in the Austin Peay defense as Premoli took a ball from the midline and advanced it up to the box that found a waiting Gunn for the goal.
After the blow, Austin Peay (3-4-2, 1-1-0 ASUN) only mustered two shot attempts from Alex Baumgardt but were unable to find the back of the net, ending the 19th meeting between the two schools in a 1-0, EKU victory.
APSU took a wide advantage in shots (13-6), corner kicks (11-5), and possession (53-47). EKU's
Marah Krick logged her third shutout in the win with three saves, she entered Sunday's match 90th in the country in saves.
EKU returns to action on Thursday back at the EKU Soccer Field against reigning league champion FGCU at 4 p.m. EST.
