EKU Soccer Hosts FGCU, Stetson This Week at Lexington Sporting Club

Eagles Current No. 1 in Atlantic Sun Standings

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer program returns to the Bluegrass State to host FGCU and Stetson up the road at Lexington Sporting Club this week.
 
Both matches will be played at LSC's Youth Training Complex turf field No. 3.  A full list of complex rules can be accessed here and more information about the facility can be found here
 
As a reminder, neither game this week will be available on ESPN+ due to the venue and time changes.  Both matches will have live stats available via Statbroadcast, the official live stats partner of EKU athletics.

EKU is coming off a 1-0 victory last time out over long-time rival Austin Peay on the road.  Senior forward Gretta Gunn logged the sixth goal of her career in the win, the game-winning shot was assisted by sophomore winger Chiara Premoli.
 
As of Wednesday, EKU sits in sixth place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, currently one spot behind No. 5 Queens and one spot over No. 7 Austin Peay.  Six schools are tied with a 1-1 record in the opening week of league play while three teams have four or more points.
 
Scouting FGCU
After a challenging 1-4-1 start to the season, FGCU enters play on Thursday picking up points in each of its last three games, consisting of a nil-nil draw against Florida at home and consecutive 2-0 wins over North Florida and Jacksonville to open league play.
 
Graduate midfielder and ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Ashley Labbe leads the club with four goals this season and has a 50 percent shot on goal rate.  She scored in the last time out against Jacksonville and scored a brace in a win at DePaul earlier this season.
 
History vs. FGCU
EKU is seeking its first win over Florida Gulf Coast, who leads the all-time series 2-0-1 and is plus six in goal differential.  EKU recorded a 1-1 draw against the Eagles last season at home.
 
Scouting Stetson
Stetson is set to face Bellarmine on Thursday before making the trip to Lexington on Sunday.  The Hatters went 5-3 over their non-conference slate with key wins over Gardner-Webb, Florida International, and The Citadel.  Since conference play, Stetson is 0-2 and seeking its first win after dropping one-goal decisions to Jacksonville and North Florida.
 
Senior Annika Seem is second on the team in goals (3) and has logged the only goal for the Hatters during the ASUN slate.
 
History vs. Stetson
Sunday's match is the fifth meeting between EKU and Stetson dating back to 2005.  The Hatters leads the all-time series 3-1 and are 2-1 over the Colonels since they joined the league in 2021.
