Colonels to Welcome Robert Morris in Final Non-Conference Contest

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team will play its final non-conference game of the 2024 regular season this Saturday when it takes on Robert Morris at 2 p.m.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and simulcast on WCYO 100.7 FM, with Greg Stotelmyer, Jim Tirey, and Wes Chandler on the call.

Saturday will also mark the annual EKU Hall of Fame Game, with the Colonels set to honor the 2024 class of inductees at halftime.

The 2024 induction class includes: Ole Hesselbjerg (track/cross country, 2011-15), Danny Hope (football, 1976-91, 2003-07, 2019, 2020-present), Jacob Korir (track/cross country, 2004-08), Sofie Levin (women's golf, 2013-17), Nick Mayo (men's basketball, 2015-19), Greg Stotelmyer (broadcaster, 1979-present), Corey Walden (men's basketball, 2012-15), and the 1973 volleyball team.

This matchup between the Colonels (2-2, 1-0 UAC) and the Colonials (2-2, 1-0 NEC) will be the fourth all-time. EKU has won all three previous meetings, including the most recent one in 2018, a 40-39 overtime victory.

The Colonels
The Colonels are playing their third straight game at Roy Kidd Stadium, where they've won the last two contests.

Last week, EKU defeated Morehead State 42-13, led by linebacker Gabe Stephens, who recorded five tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble.

Offensively, EKU will look to build on a strong rushing attack that produced 301 yards and four touchdowns by six different players against the Eagles.

Quarterback Matt Morrissey threw for two touchdowns for the second straight week, completing 13 of 19 passes for 162 yards and adding a rushing score.

Morrissey enters Saturday's game having thrown 66 consecutive passes without an interception over the last three games.

In special teams, Jalen Montgomery ranks sixth in all of FCS football in kick return yards, averaging 31.0 yards per return. The Middle Tennessee State transfer racked up 118 yards on four returns last week against Morehead.

Scouting the Colonials
Robert Morris picked up its second win of the season and its first in NEC play last weekend, defeating Wagner 21-14 on the road.

Quarterback Anthony Chiccitt is tied for first in the NEC in total offense, averaging 205.2 yards per game. He's also tied for second in the conference with eight total touchdowns. In RMU's win over Mercyhurst on Sept. 14, Chiccitt threw for more than 300 yards, becoming the first NEC quarterback to do so this season. His five touchdown passes in that game were the most by an NEC player since 2022.

Defensively, Robert Morris has allowed an average of 25.3 points and 372.5 yards per game.

The Colonials have won their last two games after opening the season with losses to Utah State (FBS) and Edinboro (D-II).
