RICHMOND, Ky. – The Defending Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Champion EKU softball program unveiled its eight-game home Fall schedule on Thursday afternoon. The schedule is highlighted by power-5 matchups against Kentucky and Louisville.
Admission is free to all eight games on the Fall schedule that begins in late September and runs through mid-October. Each game will be played at Gertrude Hood Field, gates will open one hour and 30 minutes before first pitch.
EKU finished the 2024 regular season in May with a 42-10 overall record and the outright regular season champions of the ASUN Conference for just the third time in program history. The Colonels earned the top seed in the conference tournament where they advanced to the semifinals and lost to No. 2 seed North Florida, 6-2.
EKU ended the season with eight members of the program earning 14 ASUN postseason accolades, including the ASUN Player, Pitcher, Coach, Freshman, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year superlative awards. Four Colonels were named First Team All-ASUN, one Second Team All-ASUN selection, and had three members selected to the ASUN All-Freshman team.
The Colonels will open the Fall hosting Kentucky on Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.
The schedule continues the following week with a doubleheader against Kentucky State on Sept. 28 beginning at 2 p.m.
EKU will then host Louisville on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. The Colonels defeated Louisville during the regular season by a score of 6-2 at home. EKU set a program record for attendance in the win.
EKU will end the Fall slate with doubleheaders against Campbellsville University (Oct. 10) and Georgetown College (Oct. 13) before shifting its sights to defending its regular season crown next February.
