BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team opened up the 2025 season on the road with a matchup against the Lady Toppers of Western Kentucky, dropping the matc, 1-6.

The Colonels (0-1, 0-0 ASUN) continue on the road with two more matches on Jan. 17. The Lady Toppers (1-0, CUSA) will be on the road for thier next match against Vanderbilt

The Lady Toppers took the doubles point to open the match with 6-2 victories on courts one and two. The Colonels trailed on court three, 3-4, before the match was called early.

In singles play, Marilou Cote picked up her first win of the season on court three. After dropping set one, 5-7, Cote handily controlled the second set to the tune of a 6-3 win before taking the match in set three, 10-5.

The Lady Toppers secured the match with wins on courts six, two, and one.

The Colonels stay on the road as they head to Cincinnatti, OH for a matchup with the Cincinnatti Bearcats at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17. Afterwards, the squad makes a stop on their way home in Crestview Hills, KY to take on Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m.
