Women’s Tennis Defeats Lindsey Wilson, Falls at Marshall

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU women's tennis defeated Lindsey Wilson College by a score of 4-3 at home to extend a four-match winning streak but fell to Marshall in the latter half of the doubleheader on the road, 6-1, on Friday.
 
EKU (4-3) outlasted the Blue Raiders in singles play with the clinching result coming down to court No. 6 in three sets.  Friday's win inside the Greg Adams Tennis Center was the Colonels last home match on the docket until Feb. 20.  EKU won in doubles on court Nos. 1, 3, and had singles victories from Sasha Parkhomenko, Marilou Cote, and a clincher from Izem Elif Olcer.
 
With Friday's wins over LWC, Cote moves to 5-2 on the season in singles play from the three middle courts while Olcer improves to 3-2 across the back three courts.
 
In match two at Marshall, EKU was able to pick up one point in singles play from Anastasiia Cherniaknova on court No. 5.  The freshman from Ukraine defeated Nour El Ouazzani in three sets in emphatic comeback fashion 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-4).
