Men’s Tennis Secures Wins Over Lindsey Wilson, Shawnee State

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team with 2-0 on Saturday with a 4-3 win over Lindsey Wilson and 7-0 sweep over Shawnee State at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
EKU (3-5) will head into the meat of its non-conference schedule beginning next week on a two-match winning streak.  Saturday's matches were the Colonels last home events until Feb. 20.
 
The Colonels finished the 14-point doubleheader claiming 10-of-12 singles points and splitting the two doubles points over its opponents.  Junior Nuno Pinheiro improves to 5-0 on the season in singles play with two 6-2 and 6-0 straight-set wins from court No. 1.
 
Adrian Contreras, Christian Cantos Siemers, and Ryan Kitchin also went 2-0 in their singles matches on Saturday.  Kitchin, a senior from Sydney, Australia, had the clinching win on court No. 6 singles against Lindsey Wilson defeating his opponent in straight 6-1, 6-2 fashion.
 
In doubles, the duo of Kitchin and Contreras went 2-0 on the day with a 6-2 win over LWC and 6-0 win over SSU to improve to 3-3 on the season from court Nos. 2 and 3.
