Box Score

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University's volleyball team completed a 2-match homestand with its second win, defeating West Georgia, 3-0, on Sunday at the Olympic Sports Training Center.

EKU (12-6, 4-2 ASUN) won by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15.

The Colonels scored the first nine points of the first set and cruised to a 1-0 lead.  The Wolves got as close as five, 17-12, on a kill from Rylee Henderson.  EKU responded with an 8-3 run, closing out the set on consecutive UWG attack errors.

EKU jumped out big in the second set as well, scoring four straight to take a 12-5 lead and force a West Georgia timeout.  Addison Burke's aces gave the home team a 7-point advantage.  The Colonels rolled off six more out of the timeout to make it a 10-0 run.  Burke capped it with another ace for an 18-5 lead.  Emersyn Robbins' kill ended the set and gave her squad a 2-0 advantage in the match.

A block from Alex Strating and Valiree Schmus tied the third set at 9-9 for the Wolves.  However, EKU scored four straight and led the rest of the way.  A kill from AG Hynes made it 13-9.  After the Wolves closed within two, 13-11, the Colonels put it away by scoring six straight.  Burke made it 19-11 with a kill.  The set, and the match, ended on an attack error from UWG.

Burke had a match-best 15 kills and four aces.  She hit .500, making only three errors in 24 attempts.
