JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University's volleyball team began its 2-match trip to the Sunshine State with a 3-0 victory at North Florida on Friday in Jacksonville.

EKU won by scores of 25-14, 29-27 and 25-20.

The Colonels (13-6, 5-2 ASUN) got off to a slow start in the first, falling behind 8-4. After a timeout, six straight points keyed a 12-1 run for EKU. A block from
Amanda Mack and
Caitlyn Flees put the visitors on top 9-8. Three straight attack errors from the Ospreys capped the run and handed the Colonels a 16-9 advantage.Â
Addison Burke's ace ended the opener 25-14.

The second set was close throughout and tied at 17-17 after an EKU attack error. A kill from
AG Hynes, and a block from Flees and
Emilee Hill allowed the Colonels to move up by three, 23-20. North Florida closed within one on two occasions and then tied it 24-24 on an attack error. The Ospreys took set-point, 25-24, on a kill from Kaili Doctor. The set was tied three more times before EKU scored two straight. A kill from Mack and an attack error ended the set 29-27 and put her team ahead 2-0.

North Florida (8-12, 2-5 ASUN) took an 8-7 lead in the third on a kill from Kailey McKnight, but just like they did in the first set the Colonels answered early. EKU scored three straight to start an 8-1 run. A UNF attack error put EKU in front 10-8.Â
Cassidy Trahan's ace finished off the run and made it 15-9. Burke pushed it to 20-11 with a kill. UNF got as close as three on three occasions down the stretch, before another ace from Burke ended the match.

Mack finished with six kills and three blocks. Hynes had seven kills, only one error and one block.Â
Carson Ledford posted four kills with no errors and four blocks. Hill contributed 18 assists, 11 digs, six kills and three blocks.

EKU out-blocked the Ospreys 9-7. The Colonels held UNF to a .060 attack percentage as the home team made 28 errors.

Kendall Newbold led North Florida with eight kills.

The Colonels will stay in Jacksonville for a match against Jacksonville University on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
