Box Score (pdf)

FLORENCE, Ala. –
Eastern Kentucky University's volleyball team overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat North Alabama, 3-2, on Friday in Florence.

The Colonels won by scores of 18-25, 16-25, 25-21, 25-19 and 15-11.

After coming all the way back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the match, EKU scored the first two points of the fifth set.  A kill from Addison Burke made it 4-2.  A kill from Emilee Hill pushed the margin to 8-4.  Another kill from Burke made it a 6-point lead, 10-4.

The Lions clawed back to within two, three times.  An attack error made it 11-9 and a kill from Reese Ricketts closed the gap to 12-10.  Another kill from Rickets made it 13-11.  Burke gave EKU match-point, 14-11, with a kill.  After a time out by UNA, in fitting fashion Burke ended the match with her 22nd kill.

The freshman surpassed her previous career-high of 20 kills.  She made only two errors in 38 attempts for a .526 attack percentage.  Burke also contributed 14 digs, one ace and one block.

EKU (14-7, 6-3 ASUN) erased a 3-point deficit in the first set and tied it, 16-16, on a kill from Burke.  However, the Colonels scored just two more points the rest of the set as the Lions ended it on a 9-2 run.

UNA's lead in the second set was cut to two, 15-13, on another kill from Burke.  This time the home team answered with three straight to open up a 5-point cushion.  With the Colonels down three, 19-16, North Alabama scored the final five points of the set to take a 2-0 lead.

The Lions (11-11, 5-4 ASUN) took a 2-point advantage, 19-17, in the third set on a kill from Jenna Kolosta.  This time the Colonels rolled off a 7-1 run.  An ace from Hill tied it at 19.  EKU took the lead on a block by Hynes and Amanda Mack.  Burke's kill capped the run and put her team ahead 24-20.  Moments later Burke ended the set with a kill.

EKU broke a 16-16 tie late in the fourth set on a UNA attack error.  The Colonels led the rest of the way.  An ace off the serve by Burke made it 19-16.  Another attack error handed the visitors a 23-17 advantage.  Hynes ended the set with a kill.

North Alabama out-hit EKU .318 to .283, but the Colonels finished with three more kills than the Lions.  The two teams combined for 24 service errors, with UNA missing on 13 service attempts.
