CONWAY, Ark. – Eastern Kentucky University's volleyball team picked up its second win in as many matches on a weekend road trip to Alabama and Arkansas, sweeping Central Arkansas 3-0 on Sunday.
Â
EKU won by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 26-24 after starting the trip with a 3-2 victory at North Alabama on Friday.
Â
Trailing 2-0, the Sugar Bears overcame an early 7-point deficit in the third set. The Colonels (15-7, 7-3 ASUN) jumped out to an 11-4 lead before the home team stormed back with a 9-1 run to take a 13-12 advantage. The score remained close from there. EKU edged out to a 21-19 lead on a kill from
Emilee Hill, but UCA scored four straight to swing back in front 23-21. A kill from Gabby Tuiaana handed Central Arkansas (10-10, 7-3 ASUN) set-point at 24-22.Â
Â
However, the Colonels scored four straight of their own.Â
AG Hynes kept the set alive with a kill. An attack error tied it at 24-24. Hynes gave her team the lead with a kill before finishing off the match with another.

Â
In the first set, the Colonels broke an 11-11 tie on a kill from Burke. That began a run of three straight and EKU led the rest of the way.Â
Lydia Stephens put her team ahead 20-16 with an ace. Burke ended the opener with a kill for a 5-point win.
Â
Much like in the first set, EKU took control within the first 15 points of the second set. A UCA attack error broke a 12-12 tie and the Colonels led the rest of the set. A bad set by the Sugar Bears and a block from
Carson Ledford extended the lead to five, 20-15.Â
Emersyn Robbins gave EKU a 2-0 lead with a kill to end the set.
Â
Ledford finished the match with seven kills and no errors in 10 attempts.
