CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University started its 2-match road trip to Tennessee with a 3-0 victory over Austin Peay on Friday in Clarksville.

The Colonels (10-5, 2-1 ASUN) won by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19.

APSU took a 17-15 lead in the first on a kill from Dani Kopacz, however the Colonels responded. EKU scored eight of the next nine points and ended the set on a 10-3 run. A service error, two attack errors and a kill from
Addison Burke broke an 18-18 tie and put the visitors ahead by four. Burke ended the set with another kill.

The Lady Govs jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second set before another EKU run changed the momentum. The Colonels turned the tide with a 9-1 spurt. An ace from
Carson Ledford broke a 4-4 tie and gave EKU the lead for good. An APSU attack error capped the run and handed the Colonels a 10-5 lead. A kill from Ledford and another attack error stretched the lead to 17-10. Ledford ended the set with a kill.

After Austin Peay tied the third set, 15-15, on an attack error, the Colonels righted the ship. Kills by Ledford, Burke and Hynes keyed a 4-0 run for a 19-15 lead.Â
Emilee Hill concluded the set, and the match, with a kill.

Burke led all players with 13 kills for EKU. Hill had 11 kills and 19 assists. Ledford registered six kills with no errors in 13 attempts for a .462 attack percentage. She also had three aces and four blocks.

EKU had 14 more kills and one less error than the Lady Govs. The Colonels hit .265 as a team while holding APSU to a .152 attack percentage.Â
