Colonels Travel to Conway to Face Central Arkansas

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Colonels of Eastern Kentucky University are back on the road to face Central Arkansas this Saturday in a United Athletic Conference contest.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+ with the audio stream on the EKU Sports Network, presented by Kentucky 811.

On the call for the Colonels will be Greg Stotelmyer, Jim Tirey, and Wes Chandler.

Fans should tune in by following the "Listen Live" button at the top of the EKUSports.com home page or on the EKU Sports App presented by Kentucky Air National Guard. The audio broadcast will start at 5 p.m. with a pregame show leading up to kickoff.

EKU (3-5, UAC 1-3) returns to the road after falling against then No. 3 Tarleton State at home last week, 31-7.

The Bears are back at home for their Homecoming game after dropping last week's game at West Georgia, 18-17.

This will be the seventh meeting all-time between the two programs, with EKU owning a 4-2 record advantage.

Three of the last four meetings between the two teams have been decided by one score or less.

In 2024, the Colonels defeated the then No. 16 UCA, 31-24 in Richmond as running back Joshua Carter provided a game-winning three-yard touchdown run with 2:24 remaining.

In 2023, the Bears pulled out a narrow 27-24 win in Conway on a 46-yard Hail Mary to win the game as time expired.

The Colonels

EKU will look to its defense for a spark as the Colonels have done all season, with the Maroon Doom causing 13 turnovers this season, the 21st most in all of FCS.

Those turnovers have turned to points with the Colonels scoring 55 points off turnovers through eight games, including four defensive touchdowns, tying for the most in the FCS.

Defensive back Vito Tisdale Jr. has been vital to those turnover numbers with four interceptions this season while adding six pass breakups.

Fellow defensive back Jaheim Ward leads the Colonels with 62 total tackles in 2025.

On offense, the Colonels have shown to get better as the game goes on, outscoring opponents, 48-15, in the fourth quarter this season.

Scouting the Bears

Central Arkansas is 2-1 at home this season and looking to get back in the win column after falling by a point to West Georgia on the road.

In his first game back last week after suffering an injury, quarterback Austin Myers threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns against the Wolves while running back Landen Chambers tallied 122 net rushing yards on 28 carries.

This season, Chambers has tallied 865 rushing yards in eight games, the second most in the UAC this season.

Myers' top target through the air is wide receiver Malachi Henri, who has recorded six receiving touchdowns and 557 yards for an average of 69.6 yards per game, the most in the conference.

Defensively, Dillon Williams leads the Bears with 46 total tackles, along with two pass breakups.
