RICHMOND, Ky. – For the fourth time this season, a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Football team has been named a United Athletic Conference Player of the Week, with
Marcus Calwise Jr. taking the offensive honors this week.
Calwise earns a weekly honor for the fourth time in his career after recording a career-high 106 yards and three receiving touchdowns in the Colonels' 34-13 win over Central Arkansas last Saturday.
The effort sees Calwise become the first Colonel to have three receiving touchdowns in a game since Cornelius McCoy against North Alabama in 2022.
The Youngstown, Ohio, native hauled in his first two scores on five-yard passes from Burkett, with the first coming on EKU's opening offensive drive and the second with 11 minutes remaining in the second quarter.
He kept things rolling in the second half with the biggest play of the game, snagging a 50-yard strike down the middle of the field in the third quarter to help seal the win.
Calwise joins
Kaden Smith,
T.J. Mitchell III, and
Cam Junior as Colonels receiving player of the week honors from the UAC this season.
The Colonels will now prepare to face UAC foe Southern Utah on Saturday at 3 p.m.
