Softball Set to Take on Sparkle City Invite

RICHMOND, Ky. - After a 3-0 weekend, the Eastern Kentucky University softball team is back on the road as they head to Spartanburg, N.C. for the Sparkle City Invite.

The Colonels will take on four opponents in five games over the three days, starting with two games on Feb. 21.

First up is SC State in the opening game at 11 AM, followed by a matchup with USC Upstate at 1:30 PM. Both matchups will take place at Cyrill Softball Stadium on the campus of USC Upstate.

Days two and three will both be hosted at Hope Field on the campus of Wofford. On Feb. 22, the Colonels take on SC State for a second time at 1 PM before going up against Wofford at 4 PM.

The team will finish up the weekend on Feb. 23 with a game against Colgate at 11 AM.

The game against USC Upstate will be broadcast on ESPN+ while live stats will be available for all five games.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION

SC State comes into the weekend with a 4-3 record following a 3-1 showing at the 2025 HBCU Classic, including a 10-2 win over Alcorn State.

USC Upstate is riding a five-game win streak and an 8-1 overall record after sweeping the Wings ETC Classic, scoring double digits in three of the four games with a win over IU Indy and three over Canisius.

Wofford brings a 7-3 record into the weekend after going 3-2 at the Hatter Classic, including a win over ASUN rival Stetson.

Colgate comes into the weekend with an 0-5 record after opening their season last week at the Kickoff Classic in Phoenix, AZ.
