CARROLLTON, Ga. – Eastern Kentucky University lost its series-opener at West Georgia, 9-3, on Friday.

The Wolves scored three in the fourth inning and then pulled away with six in the fifth. Landon Weidner hit a solo home run to start the scoring in the fifth inning. Two runs scored on a pair of wild pitches.Â

Seth Dudley started for West Georgia (5-3) and pitched six shutout innings. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out six.

The Colonels (0-9) plated three runs in the top of the eighth. After
Colby Ott singled and
Jackson Ginther was hit by a pitch,
Diego Alana doubled through the left side to make it 9-1.Â
Tait Nunnally's ground out was enough to bring home Ginther for the second run of the inning.Â
AJ Groeneveld followed with a double through the left side to plate Alana.

Groeneveld led EKU with a 3-for-4 day and an RBI.Â
Nathan Lawson gave EKU 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing just one run and striking out four.

Patrick McCullough finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored for West Georgia.
