FORT MYERS, Fla. – Turner Buttry hit six 3-pointers and tied his career-high with 22 points as Eastern Kentucky University beat first-place Florida Gulf Coast, for the second time this season, by a score of 92-74 on Thursday in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Colonels (13-11, 7-4 ASUN), who moved to within one game of first place, hit 10 three-pointers in the first half, five of which came from Buttry.

Buttry started the game with a 3-pointer for a 3-0 lead and the visitors never trailed. Three more treys from the junior made it 14-5. Four of EKU's first five field goals were Buttry 3-pointers.Â
Mayar Wol's running jumper stretched the margin to double digits for the first time, 18-7.Â

Zavian McLean got the home team within seven, 30-23, on a free throw at the 6:48 mark, but the Colonels scored six straight.Â
Devontae Blanton's jumper made it 36-23.Â
George Kimble III hit two 3-pointers in the final minute and EKU took a 15-point lead, 48-33, into the locker room at the break.

The Eagles (13-11, 8-3 ASUN) scored the first five points of the second half to cut their deficit to 10, but the Colonels maintained a double digit lead until a brief moment with less than 10 minutes remaining. Dallion Johnson's jumper with 9:24 left in the game got FGCU within nine, 74-65.Â

Wol answered for EKU on the other end, with a 3-pointer from the right wing, and the Colonels maintained a double digit lead the rest of the game.

Buttry finished 7-of-11 from the field and 6-of-10 from deep. He hit both of his free throw attempts and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds.

EKU's largest lead came with 1:59 left in the game when
Montavious Myrick scored on a jumper for a 21-point lead, 92-71. The senior led all players with 10 rebounds to go along with six points and three assists.

The Colonels shot 54% from the field for the game and finished 17-for-31 (55%) from 3-point range. It tied for the most three's by the team this season.

Kimble finished with 23 points after hitting 5-of-10 from 3-point land. Blanton had 17 points and seven assists. Wol went 2-for-3 on 3-pointers and scored 13 points.Â
Jordan Crawford hit 3-of-6 from behind the arc and had nine points.Â

Florida Gulf Coast made 49% of its shots from the field, but hit just 4-of-14 (29%) from behind the arc. The Eagles were out-rebounded by two, 32-30.

McLean finished with a team-best 23 points for the home team, hitting on 9-of-12 from the floor.
