RICHMOND, Ky. - The dawn of a new season has arrived as the Eastern Kentucky University softball team makes the trip to Atlanta, GA to take on the Buzz Classic from Feb. 7-9.
The Colonels will take on three teams over the three-day span, opening the weekend up with a game against in-state rival Western Kentucky on Friday, Feb. 7 at 1:30 p.m. ET before taking on hosts Georgia Tech at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the team plays against Belmont at 1:30 with game two against Georgia Tech set for 6:30 p.m.
The team closes the weekend on Sunday against Belmont at noon.
Games against Georgia Tech will be available for streaming on ACC Network Extra while every game on the weekend will have play-by-play available via StatBroadcast.
The Colonels come into the season with high expectations, placing first in the ASUN preseason poll, tying with FGCU and North Florida in points but receiving the most first-place votes.
Additionally,
Maddi Rutan and
Jaelin Haynes received Preseason All-ASUN honors while Rutan was also named Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Rutan was also named the No.8 dual threat player in Division I for 2025 by D1Softball.
