Colonels Face No. 1 FGCU in ASUN Semifinals

Second Straight Semifinals Trip for EKU

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will face No. 1 seed FGCU in the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night inside Alico Arena.

Tuesday's game is scheduled to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. ET, fans who made the trip to the Sunshine State can find tickets online here.  Fans can also find the semifinal game live on ESPN+ and 92.5 WEKY.

With a win in the quarterfinals, EKU (21-11, 10-8 ASUN) has now advanced to the ASUN Conference semifinals in consecutive seasons.  The last time the Colonels made the semis in straight seasons was from 2016-17.

Last time out, fifth year guard Alice Recanati led EKU with her seventh career 20-point game en route to a 77-60 win over No. 5 seed Stetson.  The Italian shot 50 percent from the floor and added seven assists to her final line.

Four other Colonels ended in double figures: Raphaela Toussaint 17, Althea Kara Angeles 11, Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor 11, and Kaitlyn Costner 10.  As a team, EKU shot 41 percent from the floor, knocked down nine threes, and brought down 34 rebounds.  The Colonels have outrebounded six of their last seven opponents—three of those games by double figures.

With a win over FGCU on Tuesday, EKU would advance to the ASUN Championship game for the first time as a member of the league and face the winner of No. 2 seed Central Arkansas or No. 3 seed Lipscomb on the road.  A loss would bounce the Colonels out of the event and await results from around the country for any national postseason tournament invitations.

Scouting FGCU
FGCU (28-3, 18-0 ASUN) enters Tuesday's game on a 21-game win streak and captured its ninth-straight ASUN Regular Season Championship finishing the conference slate with an undefeated 18-0 record.  The Eagles are led by ASUN Coach of the Year Chelsea Lyles and ASUN Player of the Year Emani Jefferson, who averages 14.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

FGCU won both of its meetings over EKU in the regular season, however, the Colonels nearly upset the Eagles on Feb. 8 in Richmond, dropping a 68-65 decision after winning three of four quarters.

History vs. FGCU
Tuesday's game is the sixth meeting between EKU and FGCU since 2007.  The Eagles lead the series 5-1 over the Colonels and are 5-0 when meeting as conference members.
