RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's baseball team fell behind early and never recovered in a 7-3 loss to the University of North Alabama in the opener of an Atlantic Sun Conference series on Friday at Earle Combs Stadium.
The Lions grabbed the lead in the top of the first on a 2-run home run from Ryker Billingsley. Three more runs scored for UNA in the third – one on a bases loaded hit by pitch and two on an error.

EKU cut it to 5-1 when
Nazir Mendez hit his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth.

North Alabama (6-13, 3-1 ASUN) put the game away on a 2-run double by Leighton Jenkins in the top of the fifth inning.

Mendez added another RBI on a ground out in the sixth to make it 7-2. The junior first baseman went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run and two RBIs.

Brycen Parrish (1-4) started for the Lions and limited the Colonels (3-19, 2-2 ASUN) to two runs on four hits in six innings. Billingsley finished 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
