RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University suffered a 5-1 loss against North Alabama on Saturday in game two of an Atlantic Sun Conference series at Earle Combs Stadium.
With runners on second and third and two outs in the top of the second inning, UNA's Leighton Jenkins drove in both runners with a single up the middle. Jenkins pushed the lead to 3-0 with a run scoring single to center in the fourth inning.
Freshman Tripp Patterson gave the Lions (7-13, 4-1 ASUN) 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his start. He scattered five hits, walked two and struck out three. Jenkins finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
EKU scored a run in the bottom of the eighth on a pinch hit RBI single from
Elijah Underhill.
Julius Scearce and
Mauri Bejarano had two hits each for the Colonels (3-20, 2-3 ASUN).
The series has been moved to 11 a.m. on Sunday. Sunday will be Kids Day. All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game. One child in attendance will be chosen to make the "play ball" announcement and another will be chosen to serve as the guest public address announcer. There will also be a special Kids Day Combo which includes a hot dog, chips and a drink for $8.
