Softball Takes on Northern Kentucky in Regional Rivalry Matchup

RICHMOND, Ky. - After a weekend sweep in conference play, the Eastern Kentucky University softball team turns its attention to regional rival Northern Kentucky in a midweek matchup on Tuesday.

The Colonels (22-7, 5-0 ASUN) come into the game with a 9-3 lead in the series, winning the previous six meetings between the two schools.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 PM at Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. Live stats will be available but the game will not be broadcast.

SCOUTING THE NORSE

NKU (14-14, 6-0 Horizon) rides into the game having swept their previous two conference series against Oakland and Green Bay, though dropping a midweek game to Louisville in between, 4-15 in six innings.

Just three pitchers have seen the circle for the Norse in Kyndall Ford, Brooklyn Ballis, and Alicia Flores. Flores leads the pitching staff with a 6-4 record in 19 appearances, though conceding the highest ERA at 6.38. Ballis tallies the most strikeouts for NKU at 42 with an ERA of 4.82.

Campbell Beatty and Olivia Pastin are the leading batters for the team. Beatty claims the highest batting average at .329 and a .443 OBP while Pastin leads in RBIs (25), doubles (9), and home runs (4) with a slugging percentage of .549.

LAST TIME OUT

The Colonels got back into the win column in a big way, sweeping conference foe Bellarmine in three games, 13-0, 11-0, and 9-0.

It was an offensive explosion in all three games for EKU, recording run rule wins in two of the three games.

Kennedy Drafton led the way for the Colonels on the weekend, collecting her second ASUN Player of the Week award with her performance. The sophomore tallied six hits and seven RBIs in eight at-bats, including a double and her fourth home run of the season.
