RICHMOND, Ky. - The EKU beach volleyball program is set for a big weekend of conference clashes in the Sunshine State for the ASUN Crossover hosted by Jacksonville and North Florida.
The Colonels (7-5) will start the weekend at Jacksonville University on Friday against the Dolphins at 8 a.m. and Florida Gulf Coast at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, EKU will head to the campus of North Florida for two ranked matchups against the No. 16 Ospreys at 10 a.m. then No. 14 Stetson at noon.
EKU heads to Florida after going 2-2 at the Carolina Challenge back on March 15-16, earning their first ever wins against the College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina.
Madalyn Richardson and
Natalie Taggart led the way for the Colonels going 3-1 over the four matches, the first the duo have played together this season.
Molly Shomock and
Rachel Mueller lead all EKU pairs in wins this season with an 8-4 record, with all their matches coming at the No. 2 spot.
Scouting the Dolphins
Jacksonville will host this weekend with a record of 4-12 this season with those four wins only coming against Non-Division I competition.
Scouting the Eagles
Florida Gulf Coast is 7-9 so far in 2025, but enters the weekend riding a three-match winning streak.
The Eagles are powered by ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Kaitlyn Luebbers alongside fellow First Team All-ASUN selection Nicole De Oliveira.
In 2024, the duo defeated non-conference duos from No. 20 Tampa, Coastal Carolina, No. 5 TCU and No.16 FIU twice. They also defeated No. 11 Arizona State, No. 15 FAU and No. 17 Stetson, which led to Luebbers earning a bid to the AVCA Beach National Championship.
Scouting the Ospreys
Ranked No. 16 in the AVCA poll, the Ospreys have picked up where they left off in 2024 where they claimed their fifth ASUN title in program history.
At 13-1, the Ospreys are off to their best start in program history thanks in part to a 6-0 record at home where they have swept five of their six opponents.
This season, UNF has swept nine of their 14 opponents, with four pairs surpassing double-digit wins.
Scouting the Hatters
At 14-6, Stetson has climbed to No. 14 in the AVCA national polls with notable wins over FIU, UNF, South Carolina, FGCU, and FAU.
Runners up a season ago in the ASUN, Stetson is led by its lone Preseason All-ASUN selection, Katie Camp.
