JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The EKU beach volleyball program wrapped up the ASUN Crossover on Saturday with two, 5-0 losses to nationally ranked North Florida and Stetson after falling to FGCU and Jacksonville, 4-1 the day before.
Bella Williams and
Elpida Pitsigkoni earned two wins in the fifth flight on Friday against the Dolphins and Eagles with the pair ending the first day of the crossover with a thrilling three-set win against FGCU, 21-18, 19-21, 15-7.
"We grew as a team this weekend," said head coach Jeff Patton. "We had our good moments and found some things we need to improve upon as we play good competition, and I am very proud of the way Bella and Elpida continue to play."
Against the Dolphins, the Colonels were close to flipping the narrative but came up short with the top-flight going three sets and narrowly dropping the first two sets of the middle flights.
After falling to No. 16 UNF to start Saturday, the Colonels gave No. 14 Stetson a fight to the very end despite what the final score would indicate.
In three of the five flights, the Colonels forced decisive third sets but came up short in all three.
The Colonels will next hit the sand at home hosting the ASUN North Challenge welcoming Austin Peay, North Alabama, and Central Arkansas beginning Friday, April 4.
