CONWAY, Ark. – Eastern Kentucky University mustered just five hits in a 2-0 loss at Central Arkansas on Saturday.
Another adjustment to the series schedule was made on Saturday morning. The two teams played just one game on Saturday instead of a doubleheader. The series will conclude on Sunday with one game at 2 p.m. ET.
The Bears got all the runs they would need when Blaine French reached on an infield single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning. Nathan Negre scored on the play.
UCA starter Charlie Christensen pitched a complete game shutout on 103 pitches. He allowed five hits, did not walk a batter and struck out nine.
Central Arkansas (8-17, 3-5 ASUN) added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a 2-out RBI single from Noah Goodshield.
Ryker Walton gave the Colonels (4-23, 3-5 ASUN) 4 1/3 innings of effective relief. He allowed one run on four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five.
