BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The EKU beach program split its two matches to finish the March to May Tournament hosted by UAB falling to North Alabama, 5-0 before knocking off UT Martin, 3-2.
 
After the day's action, the Colonels moved to 5-3 on the season going 2-2 overall at the second tournament of the spring.
 
EKU bounced back strong after only winning one set against the Lions to start the day with two three-set wins en route to knocking off the Skyhawks.
 
Rachel Mueller and Molly Shomock got the Colonels on the board at the No. 2 flight after splitting the opening two sets, with a 15-12 decision in the third.
 
Regan Sandlin and Riley Cutler kept things going with a two-set victory at the three-spot.
 
Paityn Walker and Gabriella Armitage sealed the win in the top flight with a three-set win of their own taking the final set, 15-10.
 
The Colonels will return to action on March 15 at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C.
