RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball team will travel to Atlanta this weekend for the Georgia State Diggin' Duals for four matches to close out the 2025 regular season.
The Colonels will open play on Friday, April 11 at 1 p.m. against UL–Monroe before facing a familiar foe in North Alabama at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, EKU will take on host No. 18 Georgia State at 10:45 a.m. and will have a rematch against UL – Monroe at 12:30 p.m.
EKU enters its regular season finale at 11-10 on the season and winners of four of their last five including two wins this week against Tusculum and Morehead State.
The duo of
Madalyn Richardson and
Riley Cutler are red hot for the Colonels having won each of their last five individual matches including a two-set win over North Alabama at the 3's.
At the 2's,
Rachel Mueller and
Molly Shomock have been rock solid for EKU, going 8-5 as a duo this season only trailing the pair of
Elpida Pitsigkoni and
Bella Williams in total wins at 11 this season.
Scouting the Warhawks
ULM is 12-12 on the season and enters the weekend riding a four-match win streak.
The Warhawks top pair on the season has been Abby Ryno and Claire Williamson at the 2's as the duo have gone 13-9 while in the top-flight, Kaitlyn Beck and Madeline Marquez are 13-10.
Scouting the Lions
Friday will be the second time in as many weekends that the Colonels and Lions will meet on the sand with UNA taking the previous matchup in Richmond, 4-1.
The Lions have found consistency at the top and bottom of their lineup as at the 5's Holbrook and Benesz have gone 14-3 this season while at the 1's Floyd and Robinson have gone 18-5 helping UNA to a 13-10 overall record.
Scouting the Panthers
12-13 on the year, but 6-0 in Sun Belt Conference play, the Panthers are riding a four-match win streak as they prepare to host this weekend's tournament.
