Colonels Stage Late Comeback Bid, But Fall To Lipscomb

RICHMOND, Ky. –
In an attempt to win the series, Eastern Kentucky University closed a 6-0 deficit to 6-5, but Lipscomb held on for the 1-run victory on Saturday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
EKU won the series opener on Friday 4-3.
 
The Bisons broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning.  With two outs, Brady Miller punched an RBI double to left center.  Jake Berg followed with a run-scoring single to right.  After a walk, David Coppedge made it 3-0 with an RBI double to left center.
 
Lipscomb (14-19, 7-7 ASUN) added one run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to double its lead to 6-0.
 
EKU (7-29, 4-10 ASUN) broke up the shutout in the bottom of the sixth.  With two on and two outs, a single into right field from Jackson Ginther scored both runners and cut the deficit to 6-2.
 
The Colonels added three more in the seventh to get within one.  Two runs came home on a single to left center off the bat of Tait NunnallyEhinger Adrianza scored on a ground ball to make it 6-5.
 
The home team had just three hits through the first five innings before registering three hits in the sixth.  EKU had seven hits in the final four innings.
 
The Colonels got the tying run to third base on an error with two outs in the ninth but couldn't bring it home.
 
Alana went 3-for-5 with a run scored.  Nunnally was 2-for-5 with a run and two driven in.
 
Lipscomb starter Rigo Ramos struck out 10 in six innings of work.  He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk.  Coppedge had a 2-for-5 game with a n RBI.
 
Sunday's series finale, presented by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET. 
 
Sunday will be Kids Day.  All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game.  One child in attendance will be chosen to make the "play ball" announcement and another will be chosen to serve as the guest public address announcer.  There will also be a special Kids Day Combo which includes a hot dog, chips and a drink for $8.  Sunday is also Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.  All EKU faculty and staff can receive two complimentary tickets to the game and a $5 concessions combo.
