RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University led 3-2 after five innings, but a 5-run sixth inning propelled Lipscomb to a 9-4 victory in the Atlantic Sun Conference series finale on Sunday at Earle Combs Stadium.
Silas Shaffer scored on an error in the bottom of the first to tie the game for EKU, 1-1.
Colby Ott's single up the middle in the fourth brought home
Greg Caban and gave the home team a 2-1 lead. The Colonels took a 3-2 lead on Caban's RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth.
Lipscomb (15-19, 8-7 ASUN) seized control of the game with five runs in the top of the sixth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, Jacob Tobias came up with a pinch hit double to right to score a pair of runs and turn it into a 4-3 lead. Brady Miller followed with a 2-run triple down the right field line. Jake Berg's ground out plated Miller and the Bisons led 7-3.
Caban had a 3-for-5 game with two doubles, a run and an RBI. Shaffer scored two runs and finished 1-for-5.
Miller had a 2-for-5 day with a run and three RBIs for Lipscomb. Aaron Stelogeannis had two hits in three at bats, scored twice and drove in one.
The Colonels (7-30, 4-11 ASUN) continue their home stand with a 3-game series against ASUN leader Austin Peay starting Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
