RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to Central Arkansas to end its 2024-25 season on Sunday afternoon at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
EKU (9-19, 2-7 ASUN) finishes the year in eighth place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings.  The Colonels' two league victories came against Bellarmine and Queens, both true road contests.
 
On Sunday, EKU dropped the doubles point but picked up two singles wins as all six matches played simultaneously being on the outdoor courts.  Freshman Ceylin Ipek won a three-set thriller on court three 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 and sophomore Izem Elif Olcer won in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 on court five for the two points.
 
Both players cap their 2024-25 seasons with seven singles wins, tying the third-most in the Colonels lineup this year.
 
Despite picking up the win over EKU on Sunday, Central Arkansas (11-12, 4-5 ASUN) will join the Colonels just outside the ASUN Tournament field and end its season in seventh place in the league standings.  The Sugar Bears went 8-4 in road matches during the regular season.
