Colonels Drop Series With Game Two Loss To Austin Peay

RICHMOND, Ky. – Four home runs doomed Eastern Kentucky University in a 10-0 loss to Austin Peay on Friday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
APSU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second on a run scoring single up the middle from Ray Velazquez.  The Govs pulled away with seven runs in the fourth – a 3-run home run off the bat of Andres Matias and a grand slam from Brody Szako.
 
Two solo home runs to start the seventh – another from Szako and one from Velazquez – gave the visitors a 10-0 lead.  Szako finished 3-for-4 with three runs and five RBIs.
 
Jacob Weaver pitched a 7-inning no-hitter for the Governors (29-10, 14-3 ASUN).  He walked three and struck out five.
 
EKU falls to 7-32 on the season and 4-13 in league games.
 
The series will conclude on Saturday at 1 p.m.  There will be a postgame Egg Hunt on the field following the game.
