Box Score

RICHMOND, Ky. –
A 3-run home run in the eighth inning turned a 2-run lead into a 1-run deficit for Eastern Kentucky University in a 7-6 loss to Austin Peay on Sunday at Earle Combs Stadium.

EKU grabbed the lead first in the series finale.  A ground ball from Silas Shaffer with the bases loaded in the first inning brought home Tait Nunnally.

After a double by Greg Caban to start the second inning, Colby Ott hit his third home run of the season.  The two-run shot cleared the wall in left and put the home team ahead 3-0.

The Colonels loaded the bases again in the fourth inning.  Mauri Bejarano's single into shallow left plated one run.  A sacrifice fly from Nunnally scored another and made it 5-0.

The Governors (30-10, 15-3 ASUN) got on the board in the top of the fifth with a pair of solo home runs – one from Ray Velazquez and one from Kyler Proctor.  One inning later, APSU closed the gap to one, 5-4, on a 2-run home run to center from Brody Szako.

After EKU extended its lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Austin Peay answered in the top of the eighth.  With two on and two out, Velazquez hit a 3-run home run over the wall in right field to give his team its first lead, 7-6.
